Summer Slowdown
July 25, 2013
Apologies for the slow rate of articles here at LeadingAnswers.com recently, but I moved to Canada to enjoy the outdoors and it is prime hiking and biking season. Normal posting frequency (which is still not that frequent) will return after our all too short summer.
Meanwhile I will repost some articles I wrote for ProjectManagement.com to fill the void. First a couple of pictures from last weekend’s 24 Hours of Adrenaline bike race in Canmore.
The event used motion sensing cameras to photograph riders that also caught some wildlife too. The pictures below show me on my second lap of the course and a young black bear coming through 20 minutes behind me. He does not look to ferocious, but I would not like to meet his Mom!
Without the event photographs I would have been unaware of this bear, but the event organizers did a good job of raising our risk awareness and ensuring everyone was carrying bear spray. Project managers have a similar role, hopefully the risk events never occur, but we need a strategy for minimizing the likelihood and a plan for if they do occur.
Next week while people prepare for Agile 2013 I’ll be riding the TransRockies TR4 event. I will take my bear spray and hope I don’t need it. For everyone heading to Nashville, have a great conference and enjoy the event!
